Summer Spanish Institute at Resource Room

We offer private one-to-one and small group tutoring. With intense preparation and practice, students can be ahead of their peers and gain a foundational knowledge with consistent tutoring. Students will be exposed to the Spanish language through all modes of communication: speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Informal assessments will be conducted throughout the duration of students sessions and/or group classes.

Resource Room partners with En Camino Language Group to provide both one to one private tutoring and group sessions.

We offer private one-to-one and small group tutoring. With intense preparation and practice, students can be ahead of their peers and gain a foundational knowledge with consistent tutoring. Students will be exposed to the Spanish language through all modes of communication: speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Informal assessments will be conducted throughout the duration of students sessions and/or group classes.

Goals for the course:

  • Prepare our students and assist them in completing their middle school or high school foreign language requirements.
  • Establish a foundation in the Spanish language through vocabulary and key phrases
  • Build confidence in speaking by utilizing the language in practical situations
  • Explore grammar concepts including verbs and verb usage

Course Materials:

Level 1 – Greetings and Expressions

  • Spanish alphabet and vowel sounds (pronunciation emphasis)
  • Formal and informal greetings
  • Introductions
  • Various ways to say farewell
  • Numbers (0-100) – telling time, describing age
  • Question phrases (Interrogatives)
  • Describing the weather in various locations

Level 2 – Grammar Bootcamp

  • Verb introduction with conjugations
  • Subject pronouns
  • Commonly used regular and irregular verbs
  • Identifying nouns (school, community, vacation)
  • Expressing feelings
  • Family vocabulary
  • Describing oneself and others using adjectives

Level 3 – When and what?

  • Describing the date
  • Identifying days of the week and months of the year
  • Expressing dates of birth and holidays
  • Expressing likes and dislikes
  • Describing summer plans (with use of regular and irregular verbs)
  • Clothing vocabulary
  • Colors

Level 4 – A day in the life of “mi”

  • Introduce & utilize reflexive verbs
  • Describe daily routine of “mi” and others
  • Describe school schedule
  • Transportation and commuting
  • Favorite things (music, sports, TV, movies)
